Why do I see the new Advertising Banners?

Vestris Inc. bandwidth usage has considerably increased in the past few months, due to a growing number of aGNeS news forums. The click through rate on our optional advertizing banners is not even a fraction of the price of running the service.

We have decided to buy or lease new hardware and eventually change our provider to be on the US backbone. Please visit our sponsors and support this free service.

Is there any way I can get rid of the banners?

We offer the software that runs the forums, aGNeS for free! You can download and install it on your servers. All you need is a cgi-bin directory. The software is free for non-commercial use only. You should purchase a license for commercial use.

Please note that if you attempt to hide the banners through some magic html or scripting code on your template pages, we will discontinue your service.

Can I pay to get rid of the banners?

Yes you can.

You should pay a one time registration fee of US$ 50.- and US$ 5.- per forum per year. Once you have completed the payment, you should email the url of your forum to admin@vestris.com.

Is there any way to change where the banner appears?

You can place the banner on top of the message thread and not have it popup. This can be done by placing  on top of your messages thread.

You can make the banner appear before the article headers at any location by using the  tag. Use this together with the  option, or you will see the regular popup.

All of the advertisements we display are appropriate for a broad public audience. If you see an offensive ad, please let us know. We will immediately exclude it from the allowed advertizers list.
